Contact and right of reply
This site publishes ratings of other people's public claims. Every person rated here has a standing right of reply, and so does anyone who thinks a page is wrong. The channels below are the real ones, and they reach one person: me.
The channels
- Email: [email protected]. This is the channel of record and the one I would use for anything you want documented. It is the same address published as the editor of this site's feed.
- Public issue: the repository behind this site. Everything here is open source, including the page you are disputing. Filing an issue makes the dispute and my answer permanently public, which some people will prefer.
- X: @allandoseo. Fine for flagging something quickly; I will ask you to move anything substantive to email so there is a record of it.
If you are a claimant on this site
You did not ask to be rated here, and you are entitled to answer. Concretely, what you can do:
- Correct a fact. Any date, name, venue, figure or source. Send what is wrong and, if you have it, what is right. The corrections policy commits me to a timeframe and to recording the change rather than quietly editing it.
- Supply evidence. The gap that lowers most ratings on this site is documentation of the underlying event by someone who was not organising it. A photograph, a venue booking, a local report or a named attendee will move a rating, and I will say publicly that it moved and why.
- Contest the rating itself. If you think the rubric was applied wrongly, say which criterion and why. That is the report I treat as most serious, because it argues that my own published standard does not support my own conclusion.
- Reply without agreeing. If we simply disagree, send a reply and I will publish it on the page in question, attributed to you and unedited except for length. I will not pretend to be convinced, and I will not hide that you objected.
What I will not do
I will not remove an accurate, sourced statement because it is unflattering, and I will not accept payment, advertising, link exchanges or affiliate arrangements from anyone rated on this site. An offer of any of those will be declined and, if it was an attempt to change a rating, said out loud on the page. The funding position is set out in about.
What happens after you write
You get an acknowledgement within 48 hours, so you know a human read it. Factual corrections I can verify from a source you give me are made within 48 hours of my confirming them. Anything that needs me to go and read sources takes up to 7 days. A rating dispute takes up to 14 days, because it means re-reading the page against the rubric rather than glancing at it.
If your report changes a page, the page says what changed and carries a new date. If it does not change a page, you get a reason rather than silence.
Languages
Write in English or Portuguese. I publish in English and think in Portuguese, and either is fine.
